The communications management plan, a key component in a plan-driven approach, defines how, when, and with whom communication should occur, as well as the storage and retention of all business analysis communications and documents. It ensures a systematic and controlled flow and archiving of information throughout the project lifecycle and beyond.
In a plan-driven approach (e.g., Waterfall), formal documentation is critical. Business analysis communications (e.g., meeting minutes, requirements documents, stakeholder feedback) are archived as organizational process assets (OPAs) to support future initiatives, audits, or process improvements. BABOK Reference (Chapter 2: Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring - Plan Business Analysis Approach): Organizational process assets include historical records, templates, and documentation from past projects. Archiving ensures knowledge retention and provides a reference for future business analysis efforts.
C. All communications must be archived and will become part of the organizational process assets.
