Production workload + cost-conscious → General Purpose High-memory/high-concurrency workload → Memory Optimized Dev/Test/PoC → Burstable
support zone redundancy and is the cheapest
Yes – supports Zone-redundant high availability (automatic failover to another AZ in the same region). As of 2025, Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server – Burstable tier fully supports zone-redundant high availability (HA). When you enable zone-redundant HA on Burstable, Azure automatically provisions a standby replica in a different availability zone within the same region. If one datacenter (AZ) goes down, traffic fails over in minutes with zero data loss (synchronous replication).General Purpose and Memory Optimized also support zone-redundant HA, but they cost significantly more even at the smallest sizes. Therefore, to satisfy both datacenter-level availability and minimum cost, the only correct recommendation is:A. Burstable (with zone-redundant high availability enabled).
