- The Scrum Guide states a Sprint can be cancelled if the Sprint Goal becomes obsolete, and only the Product Owner has the authority to cancel a Sprint. This is one of the PO's two unique authorities (the other being Product Backlog ordering). Cancelled Sprints are rare but legitimate when the goal no longer makes sense.
