A - Can be done if you are not in a rush and its not too complicated. Stepping function by function until you find the issue can take a while and if you have applied the change to 100+ servers. Good luck doing them 1 by 1 B - Right answer. Reverts your changes to prior and can be used to produce a new image with working code. C - Manual work?? If you have a bunch of servers you are liable to human error. Then you have to explain to the customer why the change only failed for them. No thanks, either apply it everywhere or you have issues D. I mean yeah but what if you dont have an instance group?
Its D. Less effort option to solve the case
I would go with D. Key word "Instance groups of Self healing" - That's MIG which provides Rolling Updates option. Controlled Rollout, Zero Downtime. You just need to identify the previous stable instance template and trigger rolling updates. This will take care instance deletions after successful spin up of new instances.
