Databricks’ current documentation is explicit: a stream-static join is stateless, and for each micro-batch, the incoming streaming records are joined against the latest valid version of the static Delta table at the time that micro-batch is processed. Databricks Documentation So: A. Each microbatch of a stream-static join will use the most recent version of the static Delta table as of each microbatch.
How stream–static joins work In Spark Structured Streaming, the static side of a stream–static join is materialized once at job initialization. Each microbatch of the stream then joins against that same static snapshot. The static table does not refresh automatically with each microbatch. If you want updated static data, you must restart the job. Checkpointing tracks state for streaming joins only when both sides are streaming; for stream–static joins, no state is tracked for the static side.
