To meet both requirements simultaneously on an Windows Server 2019 nodes in AKS: -Minimize the time it takes to provision compute resources during scale-out operations -Support autoscaling of Windows Server containers The correct and only option that satisfies both is:B. Virtual nodes with Virtual Kubelet ACI Why B is the correct answer:Virtual nodes (using Azure Container Instances + Virtual Kubelet) allow you to run pods directly on ACI instead of waiting for a new VM to be provisioned in the AKS node pool. Scale-out time is dramatically reduced — pods can start in seconds (typically <30 seconds) instead of 5–10+ minutes for a new Windows VM. Virtual nodes fully support Windows Server containers (you can choose Windows Server 2019 or 2022 images on ACI). It works seamlessly with the Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA) and cluster autoscaler (virtual nodes are treated as infinite capacity by the cluster autoscaler).
While Virtual Kubelet ACI does now support Windows OS-based deployments, you have to manually install the open source version and it DOES NOT support vNet integration which leads to other issues. I think for the purposes of this question, cluster Autoscaler is still the correct answer.
As others have stated Virtual Nodes only support Linux
