SD-WAN 7.6 Enterprise Administrator Study Guide page 96 A. The overlay topology is built of VPN tunnels and, as such, increases security and privacy for the traffic and adds flexible routing options E. The study guide defines underlay links as the physical links that overlays are built on top of. It never restricts underlays to wired-only connections. Since overlays are virtual links built on top of any underlay (wired or wireless) wireless connections can absolutely serve as the underlay that supports an overlay tunnel.
Overlay links provide routing flexibility by creating logical connections over one or more physical transport networks. In SD-WAN, they allow traffic to be steered across available underlay paths according to policies, performance, and reachability. Wireless connections can serve as transport for building overlay links, just as wired Internet, MPLS, or cellular links can. Underlay links are not limited to wired connections, and a VLAN is a Layer 2 segmentation mechanism rather than an SD-WAN overlay link.
